  • OCBC Cycle - my first road race

it was awesome someone managed to put this together.
after experiencing this, not sure if my team cld have done the same good job if it took place last year with a different sponsor! hehe

anw, so excited to find out i placed 3rd for my Age Group 25-29yrs for the 40km challenge, with 1:11:21:598 timing!
before the race, i was still thinking of having a relatively leisure ride. then at the starting point, decided to more into the 60min pen, instead of originally signed up 60-75min pen. and thats where i started gettin stuck in decision btw leisure (but potentially dangerous with other riders), and competitive ('safer', and fulfill my riding thrill). halfway thru the 40km, i remember tinking to myself - hey! there is a chance i can place! thus, began riding harder, pulling a lot of guys, n negative split times for 2nd loop/U-turn route!

thinking back, i was/am bit frustrated that the train i was with, did not carry their (boys') weight, n take turns to pull. indeed i cld have saved precious energy by drafting more. but oh well, excellent training. n pride to boot! also, i have NEVER peddled so hard before. sweat was jus dripping, n kept heart-rate not bursting high too.

    overall a great race!!

with Joyriders in morning, posing for the Media

  • migraine

got it for the first time today, or rather, diagnosed of it.

Dr Justina from Bain Partners @ Keppel Bay Towers is one of the loveliest doc i have ever seen. perhaps influenced by my colleague who raved positively abt her minutes before my consultation.
supposedly migraine is more prone to hit women, from late 20's and 30's onwards. so it shows i am there, which i am

still trying to believe, and live, by this year church's callin for ABUNDANT LIVING.
though seriously, it hasnt been smooth sailing at all in my life since start of this year.
in fact, can say this is one of my most troubled and low times, that i find so hard to pick and perk myself up.

  • impt truths to remember

from signs from God (thru sending pp like frens & parents to tell me things over the same day/period etc), friends, situations etc:

    - you can't rely on another person for happiness
    - one has to learn to love her(him)self first, before s/he can love others
    - do not forsake the friends you counted on, during good times
    - applies to God especially too: do not get complacent and self-reliant
    - learn to be more sensitive with words. strength does not come thru via brute strength or winning the argument

  • Maxims of Warren Buffet

Spending: If you buy things you don't need, you'll soon sell things you need.

Savings: Don't save what is left after spending; spend what is left after saving.

Hard work: All hard work brings profit; but mere talk leads only to poverty.

Laziness: A sleeping lobster is carried away by the water current.

Earnings: Never depend on a single source of income.

Borrowings: The borrower becomes the lender's slave.

Accounting: It's no use carrying an umbrella, if your shoes are leaking.

Auditing: Beware of little expenses; a small leak can sink a large ship.

Risk-taking: Never test the depth of the river with both feet.

Investment: Don't put all your eggs in one basket.

  • Woody Allen movies

today is the first time i really watched Woody Allen movies, or learn to appreciate them.
the only other show i've caught is Matchpoint, which was so so only.

Rama (my uni professor) organised a session at his place @ Grange Road, attended by a few of his old students, including Keyue from my batch. caught the following:
    - Curb your enthusiasm (Larry David) comedy

    - Bananas (W A)

    - Crimes & Misdemeanours

then talked about life, how to be a better person, why chinese singaporeans are so, etc. at HK Cafe Thomson with Rama & Keyue. nice.
